Review:Finding Audrey

This was the first book that I finished reading in February. I had it on my TBR for quite some time. I am glad I picked it up. I actually finished reading it in one night.

My rating:Β  5/5

This book deals with some serious issues. Audrey, our main lady, has some serious problems. She cannot take off her dark glasses for one, even when she’s home and she doesn’t go out or talk to strangers. I connected with her from page 1 itself. The manner in which the story is told doesn’t really make you feel all tensed about the characters even though Audrey, really is in a very bad condition dealing with her mental health. And that’s the best thing about the book. We all like to get all worked up about fictional characters but sometimes even lighthearted reads can make you feel all the feels that you want to feel. πŸ˜›

“You have no idea how many people there are in the world until you start getting freaked out by them.”

I did get a mini heart attack around the end but that was the only time I got really scared. Otherwise I was simply hoping for her to get better and to be able to go out again and talk to people and you know, just enjoying her story. All the characters were brilliant. Audrey’s Mom and Dad were the funniest of them all. I loved Frank and his computer games addiction but I’d hate to be in his shoes,I tell ya.I wouldn’t last one day being Frank. He takes all the crap done to him too lightly, I felt.It was really funny but it was very crappy at the same time. I would never speak to my Mom again if she threw my computer out the window. It’s like written in the first page of the book so I hope it doesn’t count as a spoiler. I always wished I had an elder brother and Frank is totally an elder brother material. I loved him. And of-course, how can I not talk about Linus?

“It won’t be for ever. You’ll be in the dark for as long as it takes and then you’ll come out.”

“You think?”

“My aunt grows special rhubarb in dark sheds. They keep it dark and warm all winter and harvest it by candlelight, and it’s the best stuff. She sells it for a fortune btw.”

“So,what,I am a rhubarb?”

“Why not? If rhubarb needs time in the dark, maybe you do too.”

“I’m RHUBARB?”

Sometimes you do need someone else to be there for you. Sometimes it becomes imperative that someone else shows you all the positive things in the world for you to get better. And that’s what Linus is to Audrey. I loved him so much.

“But, Audrey,that’s what life is. We’re all on a jagged graph.I know I am.Up a bit,down a bit.That’s life.”

All in all, it was very well-written,lighthearted,funny story with a lot of important lessons.I sure as hell learned a few things and I am hoping to remember them for the rest of my life. I am glad I picked it up last night.

Hope you are all doing well. Happy reading. πŸ™‚ ❀

      1. ya, actually I did. Okay, i must say I am overwhelmed that you remember me πŸ™‚ This has made my day. I will join IG soon as a bookstagrammer ( i have no idea what the hell I am gonna post, but will give it a shot). Posting my pics and caring about materialist things wasn’t great idea at all blah you might be thinking what hell is she saying, well let just say some thought wave had hit me and I’d decided to delete my IG personal account and now I have this sudden urge to promote my BOOKS love ( at least this year) haha I suppose through bookstagram I will be able to meet like-minded people and will post things I care about and that is BOOKS. Earlier my classmates used to make fun of my obsession with novels, well jokes are on them ;). as of this amazing book, man I have read 3 of her books and now I am wondering why didn’t I ever picked that one up earlier. ( all credit goes to you )

        thank you πŸ™‚
