City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

If you know me, you might know how crazy I am about The Mortal Instruments series. You’d know how crazy I am about one particular character. πŸ˜›
I’d read City of Lost Souls a few months ago and I thought I’d directly jump into City of Heavenly fire. But for some reason and another I just could not bring myself to read this book. I kept telling myself I’d do it eventually since I love the books so much. I’d love anything written by Cassandra Clare. Honestly! I just did not want to believe that this is the last TMI book. 😦 So I kept ignoring the book for the longest time and then Lady Midnight, the first book of The Dark Artifices released on 8 March and everyone was posting about it and flooding my Instagram feed with pictures of the book and few of the people I’ve actively interacted with kept telling me that it was high time I read the final book of TMI. The Selection by Kiera Cass (Review)

One of the best books I’ve read so far this year. I’ve been debating in my mind for quite some time whether or not to read this series.I’ve owned the books for months but I wasn’t drawn to them. I read only two books last month and I fell into a reading slump right after that. So I could not stick to my usual four-book-a-month plan. I picked this up on a whim. And I am surprised by how much I loved this book. It was thoroughly gripping, romantic and intriguing. Continue reading “The Selection by Kiera Cass (Review)”

I haven’t always been a reader. I used to run away at the very sight of a book. I never understood how few of my classmates could read such fat books in a span of three-four days. I always wondered. I always admired them. But I never had the courage to pick up one of them thick books myself back in school. And yet today I am an avid reader of books. So how did this transformation take place? I’ll tell you how it all started for me. And how I became a full time book-nerd. Continue reading “HOW DID I BECOME A READER…”

Free Bird

I don’t like the newness,
I don’t like change,
I like to run my fingers along the tattered edges
Of the yellowing pages.
I like the fading colors,
I like the creases along the spines.

I don’t like the newness,
I don’t like change,
I like to read the stories that your eyes tell me
I like to reflect on your words and think to myself-
I like to think that once you belonged with me
And now you’re no longer mine.
Your new self
A newness to me
You’re a free bird
I’ve set you free to find me somewhere
Flying away from you in the fading light of the sky.
